About Cofton Hackett Neigbourhood Watch
What it does?
The aim of Cofton Hackett Neighbourhood Watch is to work with the local residents and police forces to ensure that there is a reduction in the amount of crime and anti social behaviour in the area.
It aims to inform residents of any incidents that have taken place in a timely manner. A communication strategy is in place and this helps residents and coordinators to categorise incidents using a red, amber and green system. The category of incidents is based on their severity and the likelihood of them affecting other residents in a short period of time.

Background Information
In November 2005 a meeting took place to discuss the problems in the area, namely anti social behaviour in Cofton Park. This meeting was chaired by Mel Clarke from West Mercia Police and the aim of the meeting was to revive the local Neighbourhood Watch. At this meeting the new Neighbourhood Watch Chair was agreed and residents who were willing to act as coordinators discussed the way forward.
Following the initial meeting a subgroup was formed, their main aim was to progress the main issues that would affect the success of Neighbourhood Watch, including communication strategies and recruiting more coordinators.
Cofton Hackett Neighbourhood watch had previously been running for several years, it was headed up by Audrey Court who is now an active member of the revived Neighbourhood Watch and is a member of the Parish Council. Audrey had a lot of information regarding previous coordinators and the way in which the houses were split up.
The subgroup worked very hard in the first year to set up a communication circle which involved splitting Cofton Hackett into sections and nominating lead coordinators to ensure that information was passed to all of the residents as soon as possible. With the support of the existing coordinators further residents were recruited to act as coordinators, this helped to make the support structure a lot stronger.
Cofton Hackett Neighbourhood Watch is now working more closely with the local police forces and has input into the local PACT meeting.
